In this fit-obsessed, social media dominated world, it’s easy to fall into the trap where a day off working out feels like a total waste. However, did you know that resting is just as important as working out? It’s an essential process that’s required to build strength, endurance, and muscle.


While you might be on top of resting specific muscle groups (two leg days in a row, hello OUR VERSION OF HELL!), it’s harder to commit to taking a whole day off.


Luckily, rest days don’t mean no exercise whatsoever, so we’ve compiled a list of ways to spend your rest day to get maximum benefit out of it!


Go for a walk: call up your girlfriends and hit the streets, because this low impact exercise is a great way to keep yourself moving on a rest day. Keep the pace medium and don’t go too hard on the hills for the ultimate recovery day walk.


Stretching: Recovery/rest days are the perfect time to get your flex on! We’re all guilty of skipping our cool down sessions, so use this time to PROPERLY stretch it out, you’ll be amazed at how much better you feel!


Sleep: sleep is SUPER important for rest and recovery! Now we’re not suggesting you sleep in til midday, but how about you sneak in a quick afternoon nap? 20 minutes is the ultimate length to get you perky.
