Penelope from Skin and Threads

Posted by Bold Team on

We spent five minutes with Founder and Creative Director of Melbourne born brand Skin & Threads, Penelope Cohen, to celebrate their latest Autumn collection launch.

DESCRIBE A TYPICAL DAY IN 5 WORDS…

Fitness, fun, frenzy, friends, family

WAS THERE A LIGHTBULB MOMENT WHEN SKIN & THREADS WAS BORN?

S&T was hatched in the Gin Palace over a good glass of wine!

WHATS ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU’D GIVE YOUR YOUNGER SELF?

Keep it simple.

WHERE HAS YOUR PASSION FOR FASHION AND DESIGN STEMMED FROM?

Probably a little genetic and a little circumstantial – if you are passionate about fashion or anything else for that matter; it just becomes a part of your life.

HOW DID S&T MANAGE THE TRANSITION FROM A TRADITIONAL BRICKS & MORTAR – TO NOW ALSO A GROWING E-COMMERCE BUSINESS?

We actually had an ecommerce site before our shops opened, so it came first, and then we had to apply our model to retail. We concentrate on and strive to give the best customer experience possible.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT YOUR NEW AUTUMN COLLECTION?

The textures – I love knitwear worn with silks or linens or patterns and prints. Layering is the best part of winter.

WHAT ARE SOME NEW MARKETS YOU ARE LOOKING TO EXPAND THE BRAND INTO?

We would love to branch into other Australian states.

FINALLY, ANY WORDS OF WIDSOM FOR OTHER WOMEN IN THE BUSINESS, RETAIL & FASHION WORLD?

Celebrate the highs and live a big life.
