Introducing Madi Wilson, just one of the Aussie babes who will be making her way to the Rio Olympic Games to represent us in the pool. It's almost impossible not to admire someone who works so hard to achieve their dreams and then feels the need to work harder to give back to the Australian people who cheered on. This babe's fave Health Lab flavours are Peanut Butter, Coconut & Choc, read our to find out more about what separates this gorgeous young talent from the pack!
HL: Congratulations on making the 2016 Rio Olympic Team Madi, how does it feel to represent your country in the pool?
MW: It's amazing, Representing Australia is such an amazing feeling and now to be able to do that at the Olympic Games is a childhood dream come true, it makes me so proud!
HL: We admire the determination and commitment of you swimmers, what keeps you motivated to train so hard?
MW: I think for me, call me crazy, but I just genuinely love it. I love the feeling of swimming fast and I love challenging myself to improve. I'm 22 and I have amazing friends all over the world, I have travelled so much, swimming rewards me a lot I find.
HL: What does a typical week of training look like for you?
MW: For me I do 9 Swim sessions a week, 2 Yoga, 3 Weights/cardio training, 2 Spin Bike sessions in altitude and I also have to fit in Massage and Physio twice a week as well as dietician, sports psychology and nutrition.
HL: Is it difficult to find work / life balance? What do you love doing in your down time?
MW: At the moment leading in to the Games I feel like swimming is my life and I am giving it most of my time, but at the same time I have a great family and group of friends that help relax and wind down if need be. In my down time I find I'm just really lazy haha, I love to watch movies or read a book and just chill out.
HL: We hear you do some volunteer work at a children’s hospital, how did you get involved in that?
MW: I came back from a successful World Championships last year and felt like I really wanted to give back to the community, it's an interesting feeling lining up behind the blocks, having an Australian Swimming cap on made me feel like the whole of Australia was cheering me on, so when I came back I wanted to give back to all the people I feel like helped me.
HL: If you had to eat one meal for the rest of you life what would it be?
MW: I think pasta, I love pasta!!!
HL: Which teammate of yours is the best to travel with and why?
MW: That's a hard one I have such a big team, but probably my roomie Bronte Barratt, she is so amazing she really looks out for me and we have so much fun together!
HL: If you could go pro at any other sport, what would it be and why?
MW: Probably something like gymnastics, it's such a fun sport to watch!
